Pre-Opening Checklist video:

Before opening a competition, administrators should complete a final review of the course configuration to ensure all settings are correct for the scheduled day of play.

This quick validation process helps prevent competition setup errors, scoring issues and incorrect handicap calculations.

Pre-Opening Checklist

1. Confirm the Correct Course

Check that the competition is assigned to the correct course, particularly where the club operates multiple courses or course configurations.

2. Review Tee Sets

Confirm that the correct Tee Sets are available and assigned to the competition, including the appropriate gender, course rating and slope rating.

3. Check Temporary Course Layouts

Where temporary greens, shortened holes or alternative course layouts are in use, confirm that the appropriate course configuration has been selected.

4. Confirm Course Availability

Ensure the selected course is available for play and that no closures, maintenance activities or other restrictions affect the scheduled competition.

5. Verify the Competition Date

Check that the competition is scheduled for the correct date and that the selected course and Tee Sets correspond with the intended day of play.

6. Review MiScore Configuration

Confirm that the course layout, hole information, pars and stroke indexes are correctly configured for players using the MiScore App.

7. Check Scorecard Configuration

Verify that printed and digital scorecards reflect the correct course, Tee Sets, hole sequence, pars and stroke indexes.

8. Review Local Rules

Confirm that any temporary or permanent Local Rules applicable to the competition are current and communicated to players before commencing their round.
